Prayer dialogue -

Liturgy of the Hours and the Eucharist prayer of Christ and the Church

word Bl. Honorata

What a strange weakness! While fear is and heartfelt prayer and desire for improvement, and willingness to promises to lead an already accumulated only undermines the spirit of fear and sloth returns (ND 334).

Franciscan tradition

man of God stood with his companions in an abandoned shed near Assisi, where they lived by the principles of holy poverty, many working and eliminating a gap and trying to eat more the bread of tears (Ps 80, 6) than the abundance of bread. There continues to devote themselves to prayer, giving themselves more of mental prayer, and not oral - did not have the books yet because the church to sing the liturgical prayers of the day. Instead these books to meditate day and night, the book of the cross, still staring at her, instructed the example and words of the Father, who constantly talked to them about the cross of Christ. When the brothers asked to teach them to pray, said: "When you pray, say: Our Father (Mt 6, 9, Luke 11, 2) and "We adore Thee, O Christ, in all your churches that are all over the world, and we praise Thee, because by your holy cross have redeemed the world. '" He taught them the worship of God in all and on the basis of all creatures, especially the worship of the priests, as well as strong trust in the truths of the faith they profess and sincere, according to how he believes and teaches the Church of Rome. They had faithfully retain the holy teachings of the Father, and humbly fell on their faces before all the churches and crosses, which could see even from afar, praying as they learned servant of Christ (1Bon 4, 3).

Word of God

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how to pray as we ought, the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs too deep for words. And he who searches the hearts knows the intention of the Spirit, knows that intercedes for the saints according to the will of God (Romans 8, 26-27).

Church teaching

In fact, the Holy Spirit is shown, especially in the teaching of Saint Paul. Paul, as the perpetrator of Christian prayer. First of all, because it tends to prayer. It is he who raises the need and desire of Christ's injunction to "watch and pray," especially in moments of temptation, because "the spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak" (Mt 26.41). The echo of this call can be heard in the words of the Letter to the Ephesians: "For every opportunity to pray in the Spirit! To that end keep alert with all usilnością that I had a word when opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the Gospel "(Eph 6,18-19). Paul acknowledges that he shares the condition of people in need of prayer, so that they can resist the temptation not to have fallen victim to its own human weakness, and that they could cope with the mission to which they were called. He has constantly in mind, and sometimes feels almost as dramatic received task: to be in the world, especially among the Gentiles, the witness of Christ and the Gospel. He knows also that what he has done and how it is also and primarily the work of the Spirit of truth, as Jesus said, "my will and declare it to you" (Jn 16, 14). Since Christ is that which takes the Spirit to surround him with glory through the missionary proclamation of the gospel, a person can perform this mission, provided that penetrates into the sphere of the relationship between Christ and His Spirit in the mystery of communion with the Father. In this communion of prayer turns it awakened by the Spirit ( John Paul II, Catechesis, General Audience, 04/17/1991).
